Solar QC/QA Manager

Borrego Solar Systems is one of the fastest growing solar integrators in the country with regional offices in Lowell, MA; San Diego, CA; and Berkeley, CA. About the position:
We are currently seeking an experienced QC/QA Manager. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, well-organized, and cooperative producer that is able to exceed their project goals with integrity. This position will report to the Director of Operations & Maintenance. Our team is comprised of a diverse, talented, and hard-working group of individuals committed to growing this industry and to making a positive impact on the environment.

Position Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Reduce system downtime through excellent quality control and preventive maintenance practices
• Conduct trainings on QC/QA procedures
• Perform onsite and virtual inspections of installations and service repair work
• Maintain complicated schedules, develop project timelines, and manage people and materials to complete jobs on schedule and within budget guidelines.
• Alternately work on site or in Borrego’s San Diego office
• Independently manage performance and productivity of installation and service subcontractors
• Use SalesForce to create and maintain assets and cases
• Negotiate subcontractor contracts
• Oversee the system commissioning process
• Onsite testing of existing systems
• Perform preventive maintenance or repair on existing systems
• Prepare reports on QC/QA, maintenance, and system production to help identify successes and areas where improvement is needed

Minimum Requirements

Experience and Education:
• Minimum of 2 years experience in the solar photovoltaic industry
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, quality management or other related field preferred but may consider candidates with additional experience in lieu of degree
• NABCEP Certification preferred
• Experience commissioning or servicing central inverters
• Experience making day to day decisions at construction sites
• Experience managing subcontractors
• High level of experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow
• Understanding of financial models and management of budgeting cash flow
• Advanced understanding of subcontractor hiring process with the ability to manage company protocols and ensure the only the best and most ethical subcontractors are used at all times.
• Contract negotiation / mediation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Leadership – with the ability to organize, utilize and motivate team members quickly to respond to changes in the construction schedule
• Ability to read, understand and edit electrical and structural plans
• Problem solving and implementing site-specific design modifications
• Analytical – Must be able to analyze project scenarios and make quick intelligent decisions based on factual data.
• Strong understanding of the NEC Code and the ability to reference the code as required
• Knowledge of Universal Building Codes and building materials and techniques (i.e. lumber, roofing materials, etc.)
• Proficiency on a PC computer in MS Office (Emphasis on Excel, Outlook)
• Positive ‘can-do’ attitude
• Coordinate the service of multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work autonomously
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
• Ability to create and manage a schedule and budget to required margins
• Ability to lift and transport 50 pounds
• Ability to be on feet for 10 hour durations of work and to squat, kneel for extended durations
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
• Ability to work on roofs, single to 40 story high rise, and to climb an extension ladder over 40’ in length
