Barstow Community College Goes Solar

Borrego Solar built Barstow Community College’s 885 kilowatt (kW) single-axis tracking solar array on an unused five-acre land parcel next to the unpaved parking lot adjacent to the softball field on campus. The $2.5 million installation, which Barstow Community College purchased outright with General Funds, is expected to deliver an estimated $7.8 million in energy savings over the first 25 years of its operation enabling the school to expect net savings of $5.3 million.

Barstow plans to use the $5.3 million in net energy savings from this solar project to fund future student programs and advance its mission to become the best rural community college on the West Coast.
