Napa County & Renewable Properties’ First Feed-In-Tariff Solar Project Expected to Generate Enough Clean Energy to Power Over 1000 Local Homes
American Canyon, CA
Borrego Solar recently completed construction on Napa County’s first feed-in-tariff project: the Renewable Properties’ 3MW AC ground-mounted tracker solar project in American Canyon. Borrego acted as the EPC on the project, handling the engineering, procurement, and construction for Renewable Properties LLC, the project’s developer, owner and operator, who specializes in developing and investing in small-scale utility and commercial solar energy projects throughout the U.S.
The energy generated by the project will be supplied to Marin Clean Energy (MCE), California’s first Community Choice Aggregation program. MCE is a not-for-profit public agency that provides clean power at stable rates to its customers with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. MCE signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Renewable Properties that will supply the electricity to homes and businesses in Napa County and the North Bay.
The solar system is located on a 21-acre parcel of land and is expected to generate enough clean energy to power over 1000 homes per year. The system is expected to offset more than 5000 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year, the equivalent amount of carbon sequestered by over 6,400 acres of forest or the amount of greenhouse emissions avoided by removing 1000 cars from the road annually.
